BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA) has committed $1 million to empower housing organizations to prevent and reverse potentially fatal overdoses. Brave was chosen as a key technology provider for this initiative.
You can use BCNPHA funds to implement Brave Buttons and Brave Sensors in your shared housing spaces. Our Overdose Detection devices:
Eligible housing organizations in BC can apply for funds to cover Overdose Detection devices in supportive housing buildings and emergency shelters across the province.
BCNPHA will allocate $1 million proportionally between two phases.

Brave Overdose Detection devices are built for supportive housing, shelter, community, and drop-in centres. Through our partnership with BCNPHA funds, we’ll equip your spaces with:
Small safety buttons placed in housing units that allow residents to alert staff for immediate assistance in an emergency.
Reverse-motion sensor systems that passively monitor single occupancy and multi-stall restrooms for signs of overdose and other emergencies.

“It's a good thing to have the button, because you feel safer. I completely feel safer with it there. En-garde, I have a button!”
“Normally, we wouldn’t know if [tenants] were using. They would maybe just need someone to talk to. So [the button] brought us closer... It brought relationships out that normally we wouldn’t have had. People invited us into their space and room, at moments where they wouldn’t have previously.”
"[The Brave system is] incredible. I just love the peace of mind it’s given me, especially on graveyard [shifts]. It’s given the whole building more of a sense of security."
"Covenant House Vancouver is grateful for the peace of mind the Brave Sensors bring to our Drop-In Centre. Thank you, Brave, for this innovative tool that will help us serve our community."
